Welcome

Hello my name is Amanda and I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility six years ago.  During that time I underwent a variety of medications with timed intercourse, IUIs, IVF, FET with PGS testing, adoption rejections, and miscarriages; I also dealt with military deployments (mine and his), relationship struggles, and eventually divorced; I accepted not being able to have children, traveled the world, worked out, ran marathons, found unlikely hobbies and found other coping mechanisms along the way; I learned to navigate dating while infertile, and now navigate dating a single father.

Always open with friends, family and anyone that asked the awkward question, “So when are you two finally having children” about our infertility, I still wanted to do more to let people know there are others out there like them and even more importantly to help those with friends and loved ones facing issues better understand what they may be going though. If nothing else, I wanted people to understand that when someone shy’s away from a question about children, or avoids your baby shower, or doesn’t congratulate you on your seventh child, that you shouldn’t press the issue. After all they just because they haven’t told you about their struggle doesn’t mean they don’t have one.

Over the years I found the infertility community to be among the most supportive in the world. I also found that hope and humor were available if you looked for it, but the overwhelming amount of support seemed focused on the cult of positivity and sometimes sugar coated the pain, anger and even the outcomes of fertility treatment.

Tired of inspirational quotes that covered a photo with a couples hands made into the shape of a heart as the sun sets, I decided to create this site. Understand I find nothing wrong with those types of post. Everyone could use a little more positivity in their life but I also needed to hear that F!@#ING SUCKS every now and then too!

When dealing with infertility Positivity is a must, humor is a must and faith in something, even if that something is your doctor, is a must, but I needed a dose of reality, an occasional well places F!@# this S!@# to describe a truly shitty situation, and every once in a while the ugly truth.

This site is designed for anyone currently, or that has previously, faced fertility issues, and for anyone with a friend, family or loved one facing these issues. Stories about my own infertility, as well as important stories of others situations to help inform those seeking to better connect with a struggle friend or to support those currently facing these issues.
